In this second message Pastor Scott focuses attention on two principal ideas set forth by Paul in Ephesians 1:3-14; Purpose and Identity. These two critically important ideas are masterfully introduced by Paul in verses 4 and 5: ⁴ even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love ⁵ he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will… Paul makes it clear that we, who have trusted Christ were called to become holy and blameless in love. This statement of purpose is the concentration of this message. The implications of this statement are explored as well.

First in a series of messages on the book of Ephesians. Next to Romans, Ephesians is perhaps the richest and deepest theology of the N.T.  This message is the first in a series of initial messages in Ephesians devoted to chapter 1, verses 3-14 (A single sentence in Greek of 202 words). In this sets forth a commendation of God’s work of salvation focusing primary emphasis on God working in our salvation from before the creation of the world.
