Last day - Prague, the most beautiful city in Eastern Europe

Okay, tell the truth. Doesn’t this guy look like Rudy. He’s not as good looking as Rudy - but doesn’t he just slightly favor Rudy? I hope Rudy doesn’t find that comparison an insult. This guy by the way was playing Beatle tunes on the accordian.

In terms of weather, our last day before returning home turned out to be the most beautiful day. God was very gracious to us. We get up tomorrow at 5 A.M. to head off to the train station and a two hour trip to Germany (Dresden) and then a flight to Munich and then back to good old Liberty Newark Airport and the reassuring transportation of Mr. Benny Stamper.

This guy, on the left was one of the many musicians we heard playing on the Charles Bridge in Prague. The bridge is a wonderful pedestrian crossway filled with local artists, craftsmen and musicians. We enjoyed this time and just leasurely strolled accross the bridge browsing and listening.

A little further down from the cat playing the accordian was this New Orleans Jazz band. These guys were great. The old dude in the white hat was their lead singer and he used the cone in his hand to “mic” his voice (Note to self, when sound system fails at church, have one of these for preaching and for ben to lead worship).

He sort of sang like Louie Armstrong. And the old dude on the wash board was like slick as snot on that thing. He would break out in these extended washboard solos that were really cool.

Here’s the Dwarf, chilling like bob dylan on a cobble stone street not to far from the center of Prague. Sweet eh? I mean, check out that street.

I love the interweaved apartments, shops and old historic landmarks. Buildings that were build with some thought about how they actually looked. Streets made for walking, stopping and just hanging out.

I figured out as well how they keep people from lottering. No place to sit down, except where they want you to sit. Pretty good idea. If the people want you to keep on your feet and keep browsing, then they don’t give you any good place to sit down. Either social welfare is so complete in these countries that beggers are just not that common, or they keep them out of eyesight. We only saw a few, but there is plenty of unemployment in these countries.

The public transportation is out of this world. I mean if they did it this way in the U.S., no way would I own a car. Even in Prague, where we had no help (in advance) as to how to use it - in a few hours we had it figured out and we were cruzing around town. Come on U.S. get some decent public transportation. You know something actually cool to ride on. I love my mini, but I’d dump it in a second if I could catch a tram up to Willies…

Come on…. who builds buildings like this? That’s tile up there making that picture. Unbelievable. This is an Opera House of some kind. Really a phenomenal building. The attention to detail, the craftsmanship, the level of excellance points to a higher motivation, something perhaps divine in its core.

This is the entire city of Prague. Everywhere you look there is one more beautiful site. We certainly looked the part of tourists, looking intently at every building. I think all of us were dazzeled by what we saw.

Then there was this old couple making out in the park which ran right along side the river. Apparently these are Americans with little sense of decorum, they shamelessly groped each other in the park. Even the flash of the camera did not seem to break their open display of passion. Please, give us a break…

Peace, and we love you guys. See you soon. —- the black dwarf

The really amusing side to this is that I played the accordian in grade school and could actually squeeze out a decent “Beer Barrel Polka”!! Twin Brothers of Different Mothers, indeed.
