I made it. First night at the Padley’s
I left NJ at 7 P.M. to get to the airport in plenty of time for a 10:05 flight. It was pretty smooth, and I actually slept on the flight for about 5 or 6 hours. But after the first leg lets just say things got a little dicey. I didn’t end up arriving in Belo Horizonte until about 5 P.M (almost 22 hours of travel time)
But its great to be here with the Padleys. Their house has a feeling like second home to me. Right now I’m sitting in the living room after a wonderful dinner (Kathy is an awesome cook) and its like a train depot. Sitting across the room are Melissa, Sandro, Simone, and next to me on the couch are Sagares, Talles and Tom. Everyone talks at the same time, some portuguese, some english and varing levels of volume.
Somewhere under that cover is Sagares and Melissa’s new baby Ryan (10 months old). Also in the picture is Sandro, a real servant and formerly committed bachelor with his new wife, Simone (the new Brazilian ARC secretary).
Also there are dogs walking in and out of our feet. Nice dogs, pretty well mannered, although almost anything can start a barking frenzy. Its hard to describe, but the song “who let the dogs out” is an often appropriate theme…
Here’s the lad Ryan. Cute kid, eh?
I’m going to try and update several times a week. I will even make an attempt to upload some video, if I can figure it out. Please pray for me. I am teaching 3 times at the conference, and I know there will be several other situations of counseling, prayer ministry and teaching. More than anything I want to experience a touch from the Lord when I’m here. Your prayers are much appreciated.
Oh yea, it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t put the old guy up here -

Please tell Melissa and Sagares that we send our love and that Ryan is such a cutie! Nice picture of Tom :) Give our love to the Padley’s too and the gang down there. You described life at the Padley homestead perfectly. I can hear those dogs in Jersey….
Rest well.
