Milk or Meat Christian?
Hebrews 5: (11) About this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. (12) For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, (13) for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. (14) But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.
The picture on the left is kind of creepy. But nowhere near as creepy as Christians who after years in the faith continue to be bottle-fed, unable to digest the solid food which the writer of the Epistle to the Hebrews describes. Note, at least in this passage, the things, which characterize the milk-fed: Dullness of hearing. They just don’t listen. They still don’t get the basic revelations, and need them explained again. They have been in the faith long enough to be teachers of it, but they still need milk. They have long enough history with the Word to be able to handle it, but they remain “unskilled” in the Word. They lack discernment when it comes to distinguishing between right and wrong. How this plays out in practice is churches filled with people who do not look substantially different than those who don’t know Christ. This is in fact what study after study has shown us about the nature of the church right now. Listen to the great Dallas Willard: “Multitudes are now turning to Christ in all parts of the world. How unbearably tragic it would be, though, if the millions from Asia, South America and Africa were lead to believe that the best we could hope for from the way of Christ is the level of Christianity visible in Europe and America today.” Now the question I wonder is this - how true of Lamb of God is what Dallas ponders about the church in the U.S.? THE CALL of a REVIVALIST
-by Tina Dyer.
I will attempt to help you understand the call as a revivalist. When we look at others who have gone before us, it can help us with where we find ourselves currently. Though we see through a glass darkly, it still helps to catch just a glimpse of what we are going through. We could be called “forerunners” or revivalists or “reformers”….
It can be seen as one who runs in front of the crowd. One who will search out the best path for others who will soon follow. One who will be the first to encounter un-plowed territory or land. Your vision or perspective will be vastly different from others as your eyesight will see from a completely different vantage point. You are much like the “Pioneers” of old who headed west in search of new land to settle in. They had to trail blaze through uninhabited land to make a way for others to cross with ease. They were “way makers” and “visionaries”. What kept them pressing forward was a dream, a dream that held great promise of a better land in which to settle and grow strong roots. (more…)

I believe that the Lord is calling to his people. I believe that He is speaking throughout the world, our nation and to us at Lamb of God. We would be foolish to not see that ministries like International House of Prayer, the Call, The Luke 18 Project, and Paradise are clear indications that God is moving across the nation calling us to prepare ourselves for a visitation of the Holy Spirit.
It wasn’t that long ago that none of these large national ministries devoted to prayer, fasting and sustained intercession did not exist. The Lord has stirred, first behind the scenes, wooing his people to come to Him and to seek his face. David Bryant, and others like him have been at it for decades. However, recently the intensity and breathe of this has increased. God is on the move.
Sunday (Dec. 9th) I spoke about the relationship between the pursuit of spiritual gifts and consecration. I used a very familiar passage, Romans 12 as the basis of this message. I urge you to meditate on this scripture: (1) And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. (2) Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (3)Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. (more…)
