On the last day of the conference, just before things ended there was a time of ministry in which people were being prayed for and God was moving among them, blessing and strengthening people who were hungry for a touch from God.
Just prior to this time the leadership from Brazilian ARC asked me if I would take an offering to cover the short fall. I shared how God had blessed Lamb of God as a result of our willingness to share the abundance which God has blessed LOG with over the years. After the offering was taken nearly twice the amount we asked for was given. Praise God.
A few minutes later one of the brothers who lead the worship encouraged me to come up and play some guitar. It was pretty cool, and I had a great time playing with these brothers.
Last night (Sunday) I preached at Buritis (Belo Horizonte), in an ARC church lead by Gerson. It was a wonderful
experience. The church is called Buritis Christian Community and is made up of almost exclusively young people. I brought a message on justification by faith alone, and the importance of experiencing one’s justification as a living “heart” reality. I really had a great time and God used our time there to bless the folks. Afterwards I spent several hours ministering and encouraging these young brothers and sisters.
This morning (Monday) a group of Brazilian leader meet with Ned Berube (President of the ARC) and myself for a kind of Acts 13 summit in which we sought the Lord together concerning various needs that have emerged in the growing movement of churches in Brazil. It was a great time of sharing and seeking the Lord for His will regarding direction for the churches in Brazil. By the time we had finished we really believed that God had spoken and we knew what it was He wanted to do.

(right) Braw & Lu are husband and wife from a region called Taubate in Sao Paulo. Bauw gives pastoral oversight to about 5 ARC churches in that region. He has been discipled by Tom for the past seven years. Bauw is 32 years old.
This is Magrao. He is a leader in the Ele Clama Ministry, (which means “He crys out”).
Ele Clama is a church and a ministry to street people, drug addicts and other disgarded people. They have over a 100 people in their residential program. Magrao, was himself a resident of this program and has gone on to recover and find the Lord. He is full of joy and a delight to be around.Next Sunday, the 5th I will be at Ele Clama preaching to the residents and church members.

(right)This is Regina, a part of Bauw’s church in Taubate, Sao Paulo. She has a tremendous servant heart. Several years ago I shared with her my concerns about Amy’s life (my daughter) and my fears that she was not going to follow Jesus. She committed herself to pray, and has faithfully prayed for Amy these past few years. What a delight to be able to tell her that Amy had come back to church and that she was seeking to follow Jesus.

(Left)This is Rick Widner (who you know) and Heloise Rosa who is associated with the ARC in Brazil. She is a premier worship leader, and known all around the nation of Brazil. She leads worship in conferences, bible schools and churches all across the country. She has a voice of a angel, and is gifted and highly skilled in leading worship. We hope that later this year or next year she will come and be with us at LOG.
Here on the right is Raquel. Raquel is a former student from the Clamor ministry. (A school which is oriented toward
raising up young leaders.) Raquel is an evangelist who has lead nearly a dozen friends to the Lord in the last year. She has started two bible studies, all with new Christians. She also works a full time job. This is not unusual here in Brazil. Young men and women who are zealous disciples of Jesus, and who He uses to do wonderful work here in Brazil.

One of the very best things about Brazil is the worship. Many of the churches in Brazil have a special anointing for worship. It is one of the things which God seems to have deposited in these churches.
My first night of the conference really touched me, and I was overwhelmed with the sense of God’s presence at the gathering.
One of the things that I noted was how widespread and intense the participation during the worship time.
I have included some brief footage of our first night of worship, just to give you a sense of what it was like:
Worship One
Worship Two
Worship Three
If those don’t work you can either view these or download them and view them
Worship 1
Worship 2
Worship 3
Here is the site of the amazing brazilian worship leader who lead the worship at the first night of the conference

I want to do a better job of introducing you to a great man of God and a real servant of the body of Christ. I tried to film some video of him and his family last year in the Amazon, but I totally underestimated the impact of the engine noise while we were on the river.
This year, I have a 15 minute interview with Marco, done in a quiter setting. The file is about 23 megs, so it might take a bit of time to download, but I think you will be blessed! The file is available here.

I want to draw your attention to several really good articles on our own Ben + Vesper. The first is pictured on the left from Magnet, and mentions Ben’s role as an elder at Lamb of God Fellowship. You can read that article in a pdf by clicking here.
There is also a brief article in Relevant Mag which you can see and read here.
Also, please take time to look at a great review given to their new record at Pitchfork. You can find it here.

Greetings… Here is the eye feast the Lord prepared for my first morning in Nova Lima. This is a shot from the front porch of the Padley’s at about 5:30 a.m. (u.s. time)
I will write more as the day unfolds, but this is pretty amazing. This is the way God paints down here.

I left NJ at 7 P.M. to get to the airport in plenty of time for a 10:05 flight. It was pretty smooth, and I actually slept on the flight for about 5 or 6 hours. But after the first leg lets just say things got a little dicey. I didn’t end up arriving in Belo Horizonte until about 5 P.M (almost 22 hours of travel time)
But its great to be here with the Padleys. Their house has a feeling like second home to me. Right now I’m sitting in the living room after a wonderful dinner (Kathy is an awesome cook) and its like a train depot. Sitting across the room are Melissa, Sandro, Simone, and next to me on the couch are Sagares, Talles and Tom. Everyone talks at the same time, some portuguese, some english and varing levels of volume.
Somewhere under that cover is Sagares and Melissa’s new baby Ryan (10 months old). Also in the picture is Sandro, a real servant and formerly committed bachelor with his new wife, Simone (the new Brazilian ARC secretary).
Also there are dogs walking in and out of our feet. Nice dogs, pretty well mannered, although almost anything can start a barking frenzy. Its hard to describe, but the song “who let the dogs out” is an often appropriate theme… (more…)

On Sunday night (22) I will leave for several weeks to visit our sister churches in Brazil. I will first be present at an ARC conference in Belo Horizonte, and then visit and teach in a number of churches in Belo Horizonte, Nova Lima and several other local areas. I am very much excited and looking forward to the trip, although I will miss Gail and the girls.
More than anything I am traveling to Brazil for a time of seeking the Lord, of opportunities to receive prayer and to muster prayer for what is closest to my heart - the move of the Spirit here in N.J and the U.S. One of my intentions is to raise up a band of faithful Brazilians who will intercede for the church here in Essex County. I also hope to experience a renewing of my heart to continue building, strengthening and calling for intercessory prayer for the church and the hope of a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit. I want to encourage you to keep before you Jesus simple parable of persistent prayer in Luke 18 (more…)

I am not a loser. Though there have been many occassions when that moniker might have stuck. I made a profession of faith when I was about 8 or 10 years old. When I was 12 I was baptized in a Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio called Madison Ave. Baptist Church. However, I was never discipled. I had no real idea of how a person was supposed to live a Christian life. I had rules. (those I knew) I had the group social pressures (which worked somewhat), but I had no real idea of how to tame my inner desires, or how to stand against temptation, or how to grow as a Christian.
Consequently my teen years in particular were pretty tough. It seemed like every time my church gave an altar call to “re-dedicate” my life I was running to the altar. I must have rededicated my life 20 times. It wasn’t really until I was in seminary (my mid 20’s) that I began to understand that there were a number of things that I needed to have in place in my life in order to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. By about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, (July 11th) I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. The weather had turned pretty menancing and the skies looked like they were ready to unleash a real storm.
I thought to myself - “is God crazy?” Doesn’t He know we are trying to have a prayer meeting. I mean, here we are meeting in Newark (a town many NJ folks are pretty scared of), in of all places, a Rescue Mission. On top of all this the rain is torrential, the roads are flooding, the highway is backed up. By 7:25 p.m. (five minutes before we are supposed to start) the place is nearly empty.
Then literally a few minutes before we are to begin, Jim Benton (the director of Good Will Rescue, and the host of tonight’s prayer meeting) gets a call - “your son has been in a car accident, he rolled the car over with 3 other kids in the car.” It seemed like everything that could go wrong, was going wrong.
