One of the things that I want to use this blog for is to share links that I think you might benefit from using. These are a set of links that I’ve used, in some cases a lot. I can’t 100% endorse everything that you might find in looking at these sites, but for the most part I think that they are pretty cool.

When Paul spoke of “becoming all things to all people” what does it mean for us? I know that Paul had in view Jewish people, and the cultural understanding which they brought to the table when thinking about things like God, salvation, life and death. I know that he also had in view the Pagan world and likewise their understanding of God. (more…)

In Mark chapter 9 the disciples and Jesus have an encounter with a young person who is terribly afflicted by a demonic presence. The father of that boy described his agonizing situation like this: “Teacher, I brought my son to you, for he has a spirit that makes him mute. And whenever it seizes him, it throws him down, and he foams and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid.” The father adds to it his further disappointment that when they brought the boy to Jesus’ disciples they were unable to help him. The modern Church, much like ancient Israel, has never been very comfortable with God’s prophetic people. In every corner of the Church today you can find those who are echoing the words of stubborn King Ahab - “Is that you, (Elijah) you TROUBLER of Israel?” (I Kings 18:17). Usually when something tastes unpleasant to us, we try to add something else to sweeten it up. Because contemporary Christendom is so uncomfortable with the prophetic voice of repentance, some are trying to redefine the role of a prophet as one who merely encourages the Church about future events. Prophets are not placed in our midst to sing us sweet lullabies, they are the alarm system for the House of God! (more…)

Johnny Lang became a famous blues player when he was just a kid (15) A rebellious child, who began using drugs and drinking at a young age and spiraled down even as he was becoming more and more famous as a blues man. All that changed when shortly after the death of a dear friend. Johnny was touched by the Holy Spirit in a kind of Damascus road experience. Here’s Johnny’s comments in his own words: (more…)
