Unique Christian art and artists - Enter the Worship Circle, and Waterdeep

There is a collective of Christian artists who record really unique music, both wonderfully organic worship music and music that touches on marriage, life, death and everything in between. There are three albums under the series called “Enter the Worship Circle” that are so different from the vast majority of the worship albums available. The music is much simpler in terms of the recording process and much less “produced” than most of the records being released in this catagory of music. (more…)

The evangelism drought must end… and it will!

I am convinced that God is about to bring a new day of evangelism to Lamb of God, and to many of the churches we have been walking with in the Cry for Awakening. I have noticed within myself, and in our prayer meetings a new urgency and growing desire to see the Gospel be proclaimed. The prayers of the people are increasingly reflecting earnest petition for God to break the shackles of the fear of man from all of us. We have had a number of new converts to Christianity in the past few months (New believers not necessarily intergrated into the congregation, but I suspect will be soon). I am convinced in my heart that this is only the beginning. (more…)

James Cameron and the alleged discovery of Jesus “bones”

Sometime in the next several weeks you are likely to hear something about a documentary which will air on the Discovery channel alleging that the burial cave of Jesus and his family has been discovered, and that their “bones” are also present. This “documentary” will suggest that they have enough evidence to support the notion that the resurrection, and the biblical account are fiction. (more…)

Amazing Grace - the movie

posterYesterday, Gail and I and a few friends went to see the movie, Amazing Grace. Amazing Grace is the story of William Wilberforce and his effort to have the slave trade outlawed in England. First; the movie is well done, well acted and engages from the very beginning. It tells a good story. The characters are not superficial and the story is paced in such a way that even though you know that Wilberforce was ultimately successful in getting the British Parliment to outlaw the slave trade you still watch the drama of the story unfold. Ioan Gruffudd is outstanding as William Wilberforce (you may recognize him as Mr. Fantastic from the Fantastic Four movie). Albert Finney plays the aging John Newton (former slave trader and author of the hymn Amazing Grace). The scenes between Wilberforce and Newton are some of the best acted in the film. It gets a very respectable 69% on Rotten Tomato (more…)

Why I love Saint Patrick

patrick St. Patrick or Patricius (his given name) was captured at age 16 by Irish maruders and taken to Ireland as a slave. After about six years he escaped and returned to England. After being home for a while Patrick had a vision in which he saw people from Ireland calling him - “We appeal to you, holy servant boy, to come and walk among us.” Patrick understood this as a call from God to go and evangelize Ireland. And he responded by going.

Ireland at the time of Patrick’s missionary work was a dangerous and dark place. Full of superstition and the religion of the Druids. The Druids were polytheists, but also deified elements of nature, such as the sun, the moon, and the stars, looking to them for “signs and seasons”. When Patrick went to evangelize the Irish he faced a culture which had no Biblical understanding of God, of sin or man or a biblically informed moral conscience. Patrick faced a situation very much like the one Christianity in the U.S. faces. I love Patrick because he demonstrates to us that the gospel of Jesus is powerful and able to bring men and women, boys and girls to a saving faith no matter what obsticles we may face to believing. The stewardship of the gospel mystery….

Tuesday and Thursday morning we have a prayer meeting. Both of these are devoted to praying for revival. I have come to love them dearly. This morning was really encouraging. Much of the prayer was devoted to evangelism. There were several elements to those prayers. First, there is the overall problem of the fear of man. I think everyone present understood that the US church pretty much cowers in the corner when it comes to evanglizing people. The idolatry of not wanting to be thought of as “extreme” or “fanatical” has done a through job of scaring most Christians right back into the closet, so to speak. There was much prayer about boldness, and breaking the hold which the “fear of man” has on American Christianity. (more…)

Internet 101 - How to make use of LOG web site

Attention Lamb folks… I realize that what I am about to say may be incredibly redundant for some of you. Chances are if you are under 30 you already know 10 times as much as I do about the Internet and how to use it. So if that is you please bear with your creaky old pastor. (more…)

I have a dream…

Today I met with a fella from Paterson, NJ. named Ian. He has a heart for revival. He’s an artist and a printer and a man with a heart for God. (more…)
