My Beer Heir
As many of you know, the Mendelsohn family will be travelling to India for a family wedding in a couple of weeks — we’ll be there for about 10 days. We’ll be flying into Mumbai first and staying there for a couple of days to get used to the time change. I was conversing with our good brother Jeff Demarco, who has requested that I designate him as heir to my beer, should we be caught in another terrorist attack. Jeff, you may consider yourself so designated as sole heir and executor of my beer estate. Don’t drink it all yourself — share it with others!

Holy Shnikes, I hope Jeff wouldn’t be able to drink all of those! Some of those are seriously high ABV% brews. I must say though, I enjoy the Thomas Hardy ale, when I can afford it; That Stone Double Chocolate Oatmeal Stout looks fantastic; and I still have a hole in my tongue from the acid in the Ale to the Chief you brought to the debate viewing. It was a little too hoppy for me to say the least.

Yeah, I don’t think that there’s anything lower than 8% ABV, and a couple of them are approaching 20%. Definitely meant to sipped slowly over the course of an evening. A number of those I’m planning on cellaring for several years — the Thomas Hardy and the JW Lees, for example. As for the highly hopped ones — Ale to the Chief and Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA — I’ll have to be in the right mood for the things, but I’m looking forward to enjoying them when the time comes, probably with some help from whomever is available…
